This track calls for submissions that take bridging as their central concern. We welcome research that moves beyond diagnosing the barriers and asymmetries of digital participation to examine the mechanisms, interventions, and conditions through which borders can be bridged. How can organisations design and govern digital systems that are genuinely inclusive? What institutional arrangements and regulatory frameworks best support equitable cross-border data flows? How can the adoption of artificial intelligence be governed in ways that distribute its benefits more broadly? What strategies enable firms and public institutions to navigate the growing complexity of digital governance while remaining open, interoperable, and accountable? These are the kinds of questions this track seeks to address.

The General Track is intended for high-quality full and short paper submissions on topics that do not have a specific fit with other tracks, including the conference theme track. It is a track intended to attract unique and novel papers that do not align with specific conference track themes. It thus gives authors an additional degree of freedom, also from epistemological, ontological, and methodological standpoints.

Understanding AI’s anthropomorphism and the role such a human-like characterisation has on the way people perceive these pervasive technologies will be central in enabling the interconnected world where people from across the globe can connect with each other through the digital intermediaries. Creating Anthropomorphic AI tools has ethical implications as well when the ability of a user to distinguish between human and AI agents disappear. Also, the ability to generate compelling content could be exploited for malicious purposes, making it necessary to establish stricter security measures and regulations to prevent abuse. Those aspects need to be accounted for in any digital future perspective. An important aspect of AI tools’ Anthropomorphism is the cognitive and psychometric state of those tools. Pellert et al. (2023) have established that Gen AI tools can have unique psychological profiles. This provides the basis that mass personalisation of AI tools is possible where personality profiles of Anthropomorphic AI tools closely resemble users’ personality profiles for higher productivity and better augmentation. Such issues are central to Information Systems’ study of digital futures as our field can leverage interdisciplinary studies, theories, and study designs to analyze the various aspects of such Anthropomorphic AI.

This track focuses on the implications of algorithmic decision-making and management for organisations, workers, managers, and how these actors make sense of, respond to, and cope with increasingly automated management systems (Lippert et al., 2026; Weber et al., 2025). We invite submissions that examine how algorithmic management reconfigures existing agency and power structures (Hillebrand et al., 2025; Wood 2024), how it leads to hybrid control configurations (Hao et al., 2026), how human managers navigate their coexistence with algorithmic counterparts (Jarrahi et al., 2021), and how workers retain agency and voice within algorithmically managed organisations (Hsieh et al., 2025). We also welcome contributions that address the ethical design of algorithmic management systems and related policymaking (Gal et al., 2020; Spiekermann et al., 2022). Finally, we invite research on how algorithmic management and its organisational embedding (Alizadeh et al., 2025) affect worker well-being (Tarafdar et al., 2023), and how workers push back through algoactivistic practices (Jiang et al., 2021).

We welcome contributions from all theoretical and methodological perspectives, drawing on IS, management, and neighboring disciplines, and addressing individual, organisational, and societal levels of analysis.

This track closely aligns with the ECIS 2027 theme of Bridging Digital Borders by exploring how information systems transcend and reconfigure physical and digital boundaries. It deepens our understanding of how digital technologies reshape human activity, organising, and experience in increasingly interconnected environments, and emphasises the importance of holistic, context-aware perspectives on the interaction between digital systems, physical settings, and human senses. The track aims to attract diverse contributions, including conceptual, empirical, and design-oriented work, and to foster a vibrant discussion that advances our understanding of how to meaningfully integrate physical and digital elements. It also seeks to explore what that integration demands of IS theory, design practice, and organisational life.

In an era of increasing digital interconnectedness, organisations rely on business analytics (BA) to navigate complexity, enhance decision-making, and create value across organisational, geographic, and societal boundaries. BA encompasses methods, processes, technologies, skills, and organisational capabilities required to analyse past and present data to inform and shape future performance. It is forward-looking and focuses on diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive insights that guide strategic and operational action in dynamic environments.

We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that examine organisational, technological, cultural, ethical, and societal dimensions of BA. Submissions may draw on quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, design science, action, or behavioral research. In line with the conference theme, we encourage papers that investigate how BA can bridge or critically reflect on digital borders to foster collaboration, inclusiveness, and sustainable value creation. Papers focused solely on AI and machine learning, without a clear link to BA and its broader socio-technical implications, are not the primary focus of this track.

Business processes are key mechanisms through which organisations negotiate access, participation, and value creation in digital ecosystems. Enterprise architectures are the engineered contexts in which these business processes run, possibly involving domain specificities in their dependencies and taxonomies of resources. In the age of agentic AI, these can inscribe new barriers: in how platforms are architected, in how automation distributes work, and in how data governance frameworks define who can contribute and who benefits. This track creates a dedicated space to examine both the bridging and bordering functions of BPM, EAM and DI, while opening the discussion towards the transformation brought by agentic AI.

We invite both conceptual and empirical research, including case studies, design science research, and theory-driven investigations, that offer novel insights into the mutual shaping of BPM and DI, or EAM and DI, in the current AI-aware context. Interdisciplinary work that integrates perspectives from Information Systems, Organisational Studies, and Management Science is particularly encouraged, as this helps develop a more holistic understanding of business process innovation or enterprise systems transformations in digitally-enabled organisations.

This track calls for submissions that provide sociotechnical approaches to cybersecurity and privacy in a landscape shaped by AI, emerging technologies, and evolving threats. We welcome studies employing diverse methodological approaches (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, design science) addressing cybersecurity and privacy within and across organisational boundaries. Relevant topics include information security policy compliance, economic perspectives, human behavior, training and awareness, and security culture. On privacy, we invite work on privacy calculus, user behavior in the face of AI-enabled threats, and evolving privacy concerns.

We further invite submissions that examine the dual role of AI in cybersecurity, both as a protective mechanism and as a source of new risks, and encourage research that take value-reflexive and contrarian perspectives to interrogate the assumptions and values embedded in current security and privacy paradigms for the betterment of the world.

Data is the key resource of our time, increasingly taking a central position in business and society. By way of their unique and diverse characteristics (e.g., non-fungibility, non-rivalry, rapid deprecation, context-specificity), data have become highly valuable not only for fuelling modern AI applications, but also for innovative business solutions, daily operations and interorganisational value creation. Yet, the prevalence of data also raises questions concerning governance, quality, security, and value, especially when shared across complex data ecosystems between within and beyond organisational boundaries.

The track is open to any research paradigm from design science and qualitative/interpretative research to quantitative and behavioural studies.

Submissions that integrate service science and service research with Information Systems perspectives are especially encouraged.

This track calls for submissions that engage in further theorising mechanisms, dynamics, and tensions of digital transformation, and explore how digital transformation shapes organising, processes, and work across domains. Such theorising can evolve from existing research trajectories but also requires critically rethinking them (Baiyere et al., 2026; Rowe &; Markus, 2023; Wessel et al., 2025). Therefore, while inviting submissions that continue advancing established research traditions, we encourage contributions that rethink digital transformation. This rethinking can focus on developing novel, contrarian perspectives that challenge established explanations (Zimmer et al., 2026), or engaging with complementary methodological approaches, including forward-looking perspectives (Hovorka & Mueller, 2025). This rethinking of digital transformation is in line with the conference theme because to understand how digital transformation bridges borders between domains, industries, levels of analysis, or the past, present, and futures of socio-technical change, we require new perspectives regarding theory, methodology, and phenomena to understand the nuances in digital transformation process and outcomes within and across different levels of analysis (i.e., societal or organisational) and domains (i.e., private, public, non-profit, etc.).

FinTech innovations such as blockchain, embedded finance, mobile money, central bank digital currencies and rob-advisory platforms introduce a new financial architecture for digital innovations, thereby reshaping the architecture and delivery of financial services. Regulatory developments and market-driven initiatives around the world are transforming the traditional role of banks as new FinTechs continue to transform financial services. This enables a shift toward a data-driven financial ecosystem and the platformisation of the financial industry. FinTechs now offer novel and alternative financial services, targeting market segments that have traditionally been overlooked by incumbents. These services include account aggregation, non-bank payment solutions, credit scoring based on alternative data, insurance technologies (InsurTech), compliance technologies (RegTech), digital wallets, Robo-advisors, and artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The track welcomes submissions that investigate how AI reshapes teaching, learning, and competence development across universities, professional training environments, and organizational learning ecosystems. We particularly invite contributions that investigate how AI reconfigures pedagogical roles, pedagogical content, redistributes epistemic authority between humans and intelligent systems, and enables new forms of personalised, collaborative, and workplace-integrated learning. Relevant topics include the redesign of curricula and competencies, such as AI literacy, digital judgment, and metacognitive capabilities required for working productively with AI-generated knowledge. The track also welcomes research on AI-supported co-creation of teaching materials, adaptive learning pathways, and hybrid or immersive learning environments. In addition, we invite contributions that explore new assessment approaches addressing the declining reliability of traditional authorship-based evaluation formats. Adopting a socio-technical perspective, the track welcomes submissions that systematically examine how AI reshapes educational systems and organizations in the context of emerging data-driven learning ecosystems that increasingly connect formal education, workplace learning, and digital platforms. Overall, this track provides an opportunity to exchange conceptual ideas and empirical findings. They actively shape and reshape digital borders, that is, the boundaries between geographies, economies, sectors, organisations, communities, and individuals that determine who participates, who benefits, and under what conditions.

To thrive in this evolving landscape, organisations, economies and societies must harness the potentials and power of digital technologies in ways that balance innovation with responsible practices. Understanding how digital boundaries are constructed, negotiated, reinforced, or bridged through processes of innovation and diffusion is now central to contemporary IS research. We welcome contributions spanning the spectrum of IS research, including foundational theory, methodology, case studies, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Hence, this track invites contributions that extend the boundaries of IS research for sustainability.
