Call for Submissions
We invite the submission of Completed Research Papers, Short Research Papers, and Workshop Proposals. ECIS 2027 will bring together academic and industry professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge related to diverse facets of information systems research and practice.
The conference will provide exciting opportunities for participation, collaboration, and dialogue related to the conference theme “Bridging Digital Borders”. With your contributions, we will present an exciting programme that draws upon the best ECIS traditions. We anticipate thought-provoking presentations and stimulating discussions that exemplify our incredible discipline.
Submission types
Short Research Papers must not exceed eight (8) single-spaced pages and must conform to the ECIS paper submission. The page limit is all inclusive, encompassing the title, body of the paper, figures and tables, references, and appendices. Submissions that exceed this limit will be automatically rejected. Short papers typically describe ongoing work that is yet to be completed, but promising. Short papers can take various forms. For example, they can be theoretical (presenting promising frameworks), empirical (with some preliminary results), or present a design of novel and useful concepts, artefacts (testing need not to be done). Short papers should include a paragraph describing what work remains to complete the paper, and how the authors plan to continue working on the paper prior to ECIS 2027 in May 2027. Please note that the progress described is expected to be substantive in nature. Accepted short papers will be presented in regular sessions as short presentations during ECIS 2027 and will appear in the ECIS 2027 Proceedings. In case of acceptance, authors should specifically report the progress made to the study between acceptance and delivery of presentation. Additional information on how to prepare presentations at ECIS 2027 will be made available after paper acceptance.
Workshops are typically half or full-day ancillary meeting sessions that facilitate the discussion and exploration of ideas, techniques, and methodologies that advance research, teaching knowledge of IS-related concepts, or products from industry and their application to academia, educational curricula, or industry practice. Workshops will take place on Sunday 23 May 2027, immediately before the main conference. Workshop proposals will not be submitted via PCS. Instead, please email your proposal as a single PDF of no more than two (2) pages to the Ancillary Meetings co-chairs (Irwin Brown and Harris Kyriakou) at ecis2027.chairs.ancillarymeetings@uni.lu by 30th October 2026. Proposals should include:
- the workshop title;
- the names, affiliations and email addresses of the organizers, indicating a contact person;
- a short description of the topic, aims and relevance of the workshop to the ECIS 2027 community;
- the intended format (e.g., paper-based, discussion-based, tutorial, networking and community-building) and an outline program;
- the proposed duration (half day or full day);
- the expected number of participants and how the organizers plan to attract them;
- and, any special room, equipment or catering requirements.
Organizers of accepted workshops will be responsible for issuing their own call for participation and for handling any submissions to their workshop.
Submission instructions
Completed Research Papers and Short Research Papers must be submitted using the Precision Conference Solutions platform (PCS) and follow the ECIS2027 submission template.
The following requirements apply for Completed and Short Research paper submissions:
- All papers must submitted to one – and only one – conference track.
- An author may be an author or co-author of a maximum of three (3) submissions irrespective of format (completed paper, short paper, workshop proposal, panel proposal, TREO forum paper, debate and provocation). If additional submissions are received, only the three first will be kept and the rest will be desk-rejected.
- Submissions must be original. Plagiarism checks will be done prior to sending out submissions for review (see the following section).
- Track chairs are not allowed to submit to their own track. They are asked to submit their paper(s) to other tracks or the general track.
- The AIS conflict of interest policy applies to all submissions. Authors must check for potential conflicts of interest with track chairs when they submit to a track. In case of a concern, authors must contact the track chair(s) and copy the program chairs to determine whether they should submit to another track. In case of conflict of interests with a track chair, submissions of completed and short papers can be made to the General Track.
Review process
Completed Research Papers and Short Research Papers will be subjected to a multi-stage peer review process. Track chairs and track associate editors will screen submissions and in case desk reject submissions for lack of fit or lack of quality. Otherwise, submissions will receive at least two reviews from peers. Associate editors will formulate acceptance or rejection recommendations, track chairs will decide upon acceptance based on available slots in the conference programme.
ECIS 2027 will leverage the AIS AI review service for the reviewing of Completed Research Papers and Short Research Papers. The AI review service meets all relevant privacy and security requirements and is hosted by AIS. It is specifically trained to provide developmental feedback to authors and does not make acceptance or rejection recommendations. The AIS AI review service uses a state-of-the-art AI model, accessed through an API, to generate the reviews. The API provider states that the content processed through its API is not used to train or improve models. API data may nevertheless be retained temporarily for up to 30 days for security and abuse monitoring, unless longer retention is legally required. The AIS AI review service assesses five dimensions of scholarly contribution: theory, method, framing, phenomenon, and composition. The AIS AI review service to be used for ECIS 2027 submissions is trained exclusively on past ECIS papers.
The AIS reviewer was piloted at ICIS 2026 in an opt-in mode to address the heavy workload reviewers face in the wake of submission increases. At ECIS 2027, submitting authors will, by default, opt-in to the use of the AI reviewer but retain full freedom to opt out of the use of AI reviewer upon submission. If authors agree to the use of the AI reviewer, the reviewing process will convert to a 2+1 model where each submission will be reviewed by two human reviewers plus the AI reviewer. Otherwise, their submission will be reviewed by two human reviewers. AE and track chair decisions will remain fully human. Originality, plagiarism and generative AI tools
A submission, or a similar version, must not have been published or accepted in a journal or another conference proceedings. Further, submissions must not be concurrently under consideration for publication or presentation elsewhere. Upon submission of a paper, authors must declare that they follow the AIS Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. ECIS 2027 follows the AIS guidelines to handle plagiarism cases. Serious cases will be considered and brought to the awareness of the AIS Research Conduct Committee. If a highly similar version of the submission exists, such as an unpublished Ph.D. thesis or early results of a study, this must be indicated in the submission as a footnote (kept anonymous to ensure a blind review process). While authors may use Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) for certain aspects of their work, such as assistance in editing their writing, the submissions must represent the authors’ intellectual contributions. Authors will need to disclose the use of Generative AI for any aspect of the work. You need to declare in PCS before submission: “I have used Generative AI to assist in some aspect of conducting my research or writing the paper.” If the response is “Yes”, you will be asked to describe in appropriate detail how you have used Generative AI in your work.
