Junior Faculty Consortium

What is the Junior Faculty Consortium?

We invite junior faculty in information systems (IS) from all AIS regions (Regions 1, 2, and 3) to apply to participate in the Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) on 23 May 2027.

The JFC provides an opportunity for untenured faculty to discuss issues related to advancing their careers and becoming successful academics. The consortium provides a platform for discussions about navigating academic careers and for networking with mentors and other junior faculty. A selected group of IS faculty from universities around the world will serve as faculty mentors and share their experiences and suggestions.

The consortium will address various topics and related choices that junior faculty face on their academic journey, including publication and networking strategies, tenure preparation and career planning, work-life balance, and managing co-authorships, etc. The consortium will be highly interactive to make the day fruitful and enjoyable for participants.

Programme and preparation

The programme will specifically include a keynote speech, panels, and group activities. Once participants are accepted to the JFC, they will be notified of the detailed programme. Please come with plenty of questions about your scholarly life and an open mind.

Participation criteria

Prospective participants will be required to apply. Criteria for participation in the JFC will include faculty who:

  •  Have completed their Ph.D. by maximum of six years
  • Are untenured faculty members (including postdocs) in an academic position in the fall of 2026
  • Are AIS members and have registered for the conference

The number of participants is limited to 25 in order to maintain the richness and intimacy of the experience.
